Criteria for classifying a bleeding event as major2
- Led to a drop in hemoglobin of at least 2 g/dL
- Occurred at a critical site such as intracranial, spinal/epidural, intraocular, retroperitoneal, or pericardial
- Required transfusion of at least 2 units of blood
- Bleeding associated with death
